Front End Web Developer

Location: New York, NY

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Mid Level

Warby Parker is a transformative lifestyle brand offering designer eyewear at a revolutionary price while leading the way for socially-conscious businesses.  By cutting out the middlemen and engaging directly with consumers, we're able to offer ultra-high-quality, vintage-inspired frames for $95 including shipping. There's a bigger picture, too: social innovation is woven into the DNA of the company, and for every pair of glasses purchased, a pair is distributed to someone in need.

Our Systems Development team is looking for an exceptional Front End Web Developer to be part of one of our implementation teams. Their main objective will be to create functional and beautiful prototypes from concepts and ideas.

Since all work and no play make a dull office, we’re thoroughly committed to infusing our days with surprises, brain-stimulating activities and, when appropriate, costumes. As a team member at Warby Parker you can look forward to company outings, guest speakers, and all sorts of other fun perks.

What you'll do:

  • Work with our designers to transform Adobe CS files into beautiful, fast, customer-facing web pages that make a user’s day better
  • Build proof of concepts and functional prototypes
  • Provide real-time validations on the technical feasibility of designs
  • Contribute to our web stack—from static HTML and CSS to heavy JS interoperating with the PHP and Python backends
  • Create and maintain reusable JS/CSS libraries and components for reuse throughout our site

Who you are:

  • Comfortable taking ownership of your work with little coaching
  • A team player with stellar communication skills
  • Known for having a solid eye for detail and a great taste for aesthetics
  • Possess strong, well-formed opinions about what makes for a good user experience

  • 3+ years experience in-house or at an agency (real-world experience writing hand-coded and framework assisted JS, CSS, and HTML)
  • Experience building mobile-friendly sites
  • Experience building responsive sites
  • Comfort with the Adobe CS

Extra credit:

  • A track record of building interesting and/or challenging side projects
  • Experience writing CoffeeScript
  • Experience with backbone, angular, or ember
  • Experience with git or another DVCS
  • Full-stack experience

Some benefits and perks of working at Warby Parker:

  • Health/Vision/Dental
  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • Flexible “My Time” vacation policy
  • Retirement savings plan (401k)
  • Commuter benefits
  • Free eyewear (Discounts for friends and family!)
  • Free gym membership
  • Company outings
